“I felt really looked after during my stay and it didn’t feel like a service — it felt like a retreat. The support was kind, professional, and tailored to what I needed. I would absolutely come back again.”
Chris - NDIS participant
“Following the participant’s Short Term Accommodation stay at Coolabine Retreat, I observed a noticeable improvement in their overall wellbeing and emotional regulation. The retreat provided a safe, supportive environment that aligned strongly with the participant’s goals, and I would confidently recommend Coolabine Retreat as a high-quality STA option for NDIS participants.”

Eligible participants with NDIS packages that have STA Respite funding, with low intensity support needs. Due to the rural setting and cabin design, our accommodation is currently not wheelchair accessible and is not suitable for participants requiring mobility assistance or intensive behavioural support. Our service does not include personal care such as showering, toileting or other high intensity daily living supports. Participants attending our respite stays must be independent with personal care tasks or attend with their own support worker if those supports are required. If you are unsure whether our environment is suitable, please contact us to discuss participant needs prior to booking.
NDIS Short-term accommodation (STA), often called respite, allows participants funded through the National Disability Insurance Scheme to stay somewhere away from their usual home for a short period, STA typically includes accommodation, meals, support during the stay, and is commonly used to give carers a break while participants enjoy new experiences and supportive environment.
Our STA packages include:
- Accommodation (a safe place to stay)
- 24/7 support
- 3 meals a day
- Activities and community participation
